| | The conditions of entry to the Salon are published on this website. You will be asked to formally agree to the conditions upon entry. The 2025 North Shore Salon of Photography has six categories
| | 1. | Shot On My Phone: | Without the constraints of traditional camera equipment, this open category is to recognise and celebrate the freedom and creativity of images captured by mobile phone.
Submitted images can only be edited with “in phone” app tools. Images must be edited on your phone. |
| | 2. | 'scapes: | This category embraces the environment around us. Whether it be land, sea or city.. The emphasis is on the “scape” being the main focus of the image not a background. The inclusion of people and animals is acceptable as an integral part of your entry, but they must be a secondary element to the composition e.g. birds in the sky of a seascape. It must not be possible to construe your entry as a portrait. |
| | 3. | Emotive People: | Capturing the human condition, relationships and storytelling. Images can be traditional in style or groups, crowds, spontaneous moments, humour, editorial, self-portraits or in any form that reflects the photographers creative vision. |
| | 4. | Minimalistic: | The aim of this category is to focus on image simplicity, including macro photography. The intent is to exclude all non-essential components and draw our attention to the essence of the subject being presented. |
| | 5. | Open Monochrome: | Any subject or style of image in Monochrome. This includes traditional black and white or images featuring or in varying tones of only ONE colour eg. red, blue, green, gray. |
| | 6. | Open Colour: | Any subject or style of image in all its full-colour glory . Monochrome images in this category will be disqualified. |

In addition, the The Salon Trophy is presented to the image that exemplifies excellence across all aspects and is the Judges Choice |
